On a lighter subject, have you ever seen a person go up to a stranger and ask for a smoke? Nine times out of ten, the stranger will graciously comply as if that were an act of common courtesy. Now, imagine that your breath is kicking and you're getting out a piece of gum, and then some random person just comes up to you and asks for some too. Wouldn't that be a little awkward? I don't know if I'd be so willing to give this weirdo a piece of gum. But in the smoker's sub-culture, there's some understood rule that you give up one of your cigarettes at the request of your fellow smoker. And when the favor is given and the cigarette is passed from one person to the other, the whole thing is so dang cool. We could all learn something from smokers. Indeed...
